v0.dev is a tool launched by Vercel, a well-known front-end website hosting platform, that automatically generates web page user interfaces using AI. It produces ready-to-use React component code based on the popular UI framework Shadcn UI and Tailwind CSS.

The working principle of v0

v0 uses AI models to generate code based on simple text prompts. After entering and submitting a prompt, three AI-generated user interface options will be provided. You can select one and copy and paste its code, or further refine it. If you want to optimize, you can also select individual parts of the generated UI for fine-tuning.

v0 can currently generate React DOM elements and Shadcn UI components. After the official release, Vercel will add support for other UI libraries, which may include Svelte, Vue, or plain HTML, etc.
