UAE Open-Sources “Fastest Inference Model” K2-Think, Shares Name with Kimi

Abu Dhabi’s Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence, together with AI startup G42, has launched a low-cost inference model called K2-Think. Built on Alibaba’s open-source Qwen 2.5 model, it features 32 billion parameters and outperforms flagship inference models from OpenAI and DeepSeek that are 20 times larger. The model demonstrates outstanding performance on complex math benchmarks and, when deployed on Cerebras wafer-scale chips, achieves a 10x performance boost.
