OpenAI announces that ChatGPT has been comprehensively upgraded to version 4o.

Recently, OpenAI announced in its update log that, starting from April 30, 2025, GPT-4 will be retired from ChatGPT and replaced by GPT-4o. OpenAI stated that in face-to-face evaluations, GPT-4o has consistently outperformed GPT-4 in areas such as writing, coding, and STEM. Recent upgrades have further improved GPT-4o’s instruction following, problem-solving, and conversational flow, making it the natural successor to GPT-4. However, OpenAI also mentioned that GPT-4 will still be available via the API.
