OpenAI Expands the Responses API: Supports MCP, Image Generation, etc

OpenAI has announced an expansion of the Responses API, adding support for remote connections to MCP servers, image generation via the gpt-image-1 model, Code Interpreter, and enhanced file search capabilities. The update offers full compatibility with the GPT-4o series, GPT-4.1 series, and OpenAI’s o-series inference models. With just a few lines of code, developers can now enable the model to connect to MCP tools such as Cloudflare and access user data sources.
