Ollama releases desktop client, bidding farewell to the command line for local AI
Ollama has launched desktop apps for macOS and Windows. The apps support downloading and chatting with models, feature drag-and-drop functionality for files, and can process text or PDF documents. They can handle large documents by increasing the context length (requires more memory). The new apps also support multimodal capabilities, allowing users to send images to models that support this feature (such as Google DeepMind’s Gemma 3). They can also process code files to help understand documentation.
