These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of ALTools at altools.ai and all related browser-based video and audio tools (the “Service”), operated by ALTools (“we”, “us”, or “our”).

Please read these Terms carefully. By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by them. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

Official Language: The English version of these Terms of Service is the official and controlling version. If any translated version conflicts with or differs from the English version, the English version shall prevail.

1. The Service

ALTools provides free online tools for working with video, audio, images, subtitles, and related media. Most processing occurs locally in your browser; we do not upload your source media to our servers for routine tool operations.

Features may change, expand, or be discontinued at any time. We may add usage limits, compatibility requirements, or regional restrictions when necessary to maintain quality and security.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum legal age in your jurisdiction) to use the Service. If you are using the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

3. No Account Required

Most tools do not require registration. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your device, browser, and network. We are not responsible for unauthorized access to files on your device resulting from your environment or actions.

4. Your Content & Legal Responsibility

You retain ownership of media and content you process through the Service (“Your Content”). You are solely responsible for Your Content and for ensuring that:

  • You have all necessary rights, licenses, and permissions to use, edit, convert, publish, or distribute Your Content
  • Your use complies with applicable copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity, and other laws
  • Your Content does not infringe third-party rights or violate platform rules (including YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, or other services)

We do not monitor Your Content. We may cooperate with lawful requests from authorities when required.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • Violate any law or regulation
  • Infringe intellectual property or other rights of others
  • Upload or process unlawful, harmful, harassing, defamatory, obscene, or exploitative material — including content involving minors
  • Attempt to bypass DRM, access controls, or technical protections without authorization
  • Reverse engineer, scrape, overload, or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure
  • Use automated means (bots, scrapers) to access the Service in a manner that imposes unreasonable load
  • Misrepresent your identity or affiliation
  • Remove or alter legal notices, attributions, or watermarks from third-party content without permission

We may restrict or block access if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms or pose a risk to the Service or others.

6. Intellectual Property

6.1 Our Property

The Service, including its name, branding, website design, software, documentation, and underlying technology, is owned by us or our licensors and protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any right to use our trademarks or branding except as necessary to use the Service in accordance with these Terms.

6.2 Feedback

If you submit suggestions, bug reports, or ideas, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual license to use them to improve the Service without obligation to compensate you.

7. Free Service & No Professional Advice

The Service is provided free of charge for personal and commercial use unless we state otherwise on a specific page.

Tool outputs, scores, recommendations (including SEO or title suggestions), and calculators are for informational purposes only. They do not constitute legal, financial, or professional advice. You are responsible for evaluating results before relying on them.

8. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and accuracy.

We do not warrant that:

  • The Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure
  • Results will meet your expectations or be suitable for broadcast, distribution, or commercial release
  • Any specific codec, format, browser, or device will be supported indefinitely
  • Defects will be corrected within a particular timeframe

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty exclusions; in those cases, our disclaimers apply to the maximum extent permitted by law.

9. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE AND OUR AFFILIATES, OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND SUPPLIERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE — EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS (USD $100) OR THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM (WHICH IS TYPICALLY ZERO FOR FREE USE), WHICHEVER IS GREATER.

You acknowledge that media processing can fail due to file corruption, browser limitations, insufficient memory, or user error. Always keep backups of important files before processing.

10. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless ALTools and its affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from Your Content, your use of the Service, or your violation of these Terms or applicable law.

11. Third-Party Services & Links

The Service may reference or interact with third-party websites, platforms, fonts, libraries, or content delivery networks. We do not control and are not responsible for third-party services. Your use of third-party services is at your own risk and subject to their terms and policies.

12. Browser Permissions

Certain features require permissions (file access, microphone, screen capture, clipboard). Granting permission allows the feature to function locally as described. You may revoke permissions through your browser at any time.

13. Modifications to the Service and Terms

We may update the Service or these Terms at any time. When we update these Terms, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Material changes may be communicated on the website. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

If you do not agree to updated Terms, you must stop using the Service.

14. Suspension & Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe you violated these Terms or if necessary to protect the Service, users, or third parties.

Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, and governing provisions) will survive.

15. Governing Law & Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable in our place of operation, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where mandatory consumer protection laws in your country require otherwise.

16. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.

17. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and ALTools regarding the Service and supersede prior agreements on the same subject.
